Catherine,
Further to my previous reply, I decided to look for Henry J. MARSHALL using
the 1881 Census Index for all of the UK and found the entry you're probably
working from. Odd that it appears he was currently the vicar of Bettws (not
formerly) but that he resided in Somerset. In any case, he doesn't appear
in the 1851 Census for Montgomeryshire and, from the birthplaces of everyone
in the family, they seem to have spent most of their time in Somerset. I
would suggest, if you're looking for baptism and marriage entries, you look
at the records for the parishes shown in the entry. The LDS (Mormons) have
microfilmed all of the Bishop's Transcripts and you should be able to order
the appropriate microfilms (and earlier census returns) for those parishes
from the nearest LDS FHC. As far as other information pertaining to the
vicar, perhaps there might be some personal background information in the
local newspaper (wherever he died) but you'd have to find out his date of
death. The Montgomeryshire Genealogical Society has published the
Monumental Inscriptions for Bettws -- these always include any lists or
inscriptions from inside the church so it's possible he's listed there.
There's a volunteer who has posted this item for lookups on my Mid-Wales
Lookup Exchange page (under Monumental Inscriptions) -- suggest you check
out the page and contact her to see if there's any mention of Henry or any
other MARSHALL's in the booklet:
