Dear Lists,
(Apologies for duplicate list postings!)
Another follow-up to yet another statement which says our DAVIES of
Trefeglwys were "related to Griffiths & Griffiths, Tailors, in first
Llawryglyn [Trefeglwys] and then Llanidloes".
Perhaps someone (Eric Jervis? Margaret Harvey again?) is familiar with this
establishment in some context, at least into the early part of the 20th
century, and might know something of the family pedigree. I believe the
entry below is the "right" family from the 1881 Census. I did notice,
however, that there are a good many GRIFFITHS in Montgomeryshire who were
also tailors.
It is my belief that these GRIFFITHS stem from a Benjamin GRIFFITHS who
married Elizabeth WIGLEY (her father ran the mines at Dylife in the late
18C.). I'm looking for any possible way they may be connected to my DAVIES
family -- my Edward b.1800 (married Mary HUMPHREYS at Trefeglwys 1823) and
his brother David b.1787 (settled at Llandinam and married Elizabeth
REYNOLDS 1818).
