Greg,
There are two sources (quoting loosely from Powys FHS "Cronicl"):
Marriage Index for Montgomeryshire (to 1837)
Includes BT's and original PR's from the earliest dates recorded in each parish to
1837 (54 parishes). Info in Index is: date; name; parish; status; name wife; parish;
status; Banns/License; all indexed alpha by surname male/female. Charges: (GBP) 2-00
per inquiry. Send SAE to:
T.E. Gwynne, 5 Newtonmere Drive, Wellington, Telford, TF13HG
and
Hayes Computerized Marriage Index inc MGY
Part III Merioneth and Montgomeryshire
Index contains: parish; year of marriage; full names bride/groom; and, after 1837, names
of the fathers where these appear (widows not shown). Index can be used to a) locate a
specific marriage; b)search for a marriage where the name of only one party is known; c)
list marriages containing any specific name; d)search for all marriages where father's
name known (post 1837 only). (e.g. marriages of children of John Davies 1884 to 1907.)
For details of how to use the Index send a stamped SAE to:
Dafydd Hayes, Pen y Cae, Ffordd Hendy, Gwernymynydd, Flintshire CH7 5JP
(There's no price quoted for the Hayes index -- perhaps an initial inquiry is in
order.)
Regards,
Julie Preston

Subject: Marriage index
Dear All,
I wonder if someone could tell me the best place/person to contact regarding access to
the Montgomeryshire Marriage index. ( I think there is one ) I am searching for a marriage
between David ASTLEY and Mary WATKINS which probably took place around 1832.
Many Thanks
Greg ( Devon.)
