Julie,
Thanks for the return message. After receiving my new digest of Montgomery
messages, which arrived after your direct email to me, all was explained and
I felt a real dill. I was overwhelmed by everyone's interest and assistance.
I agree that the entry for John and Harriet Davies at Kerry Rd Newtown looks
the most promising given that she has a brother Maurice. Given the
information you provided I had a little look at the IGI for John Davies b
Trefeglwys and found that John bp Sept 27 1814 to Edward and Mary Davies
had a brother Maurice bp Jan 6th 1817 which was interesting.
My only concern re my gr gr gran Harriet is that when she married for the
first time to a man 20 years her senior she didn't put her age up a little
instead of dropping it back three years. When she emigrated in 1864 I was
told that as a single woman she would have had to say she was at least 21.
That is why I believed she had put her age up three years and 25 in 1871 was
her correct age, making her b 1846 and so aged 4 or 5 in 1851.
Another point though regarding the Kerry Rd entry which is suggestive is
that at aged 8 Harriet was described as a weaver's dau not a scholar as the
harriet in the other entry was. My Harriet remained unable to even sign her
name until her death in 1922, she even signed her name with a cross on her
will.
