Dear listers,
I am looking for information on Sarah Hamer, daughter of Richard Hamer, born
about 1900, and prior to her marriage was known as Miss Hamer the Goron. She
married John Breeze, a carpenter of Llandinam parish, in Llandinam church on
29th December, 1837, when Sarah was said to be of Llandinam parish too.
Later the Goron was occupied by a John Rees, but I believe he was married to
a daughter of Sarah and John, called Ann, thus confirming the Goron
connection.
The Breeze family were also linked somehow to the Bennett family of
Pentrerhedyn, also just north of Newtown, and I have a feeling it was thro
the Hamer side. The Breeze's were Baptists from the Newchapel area, and most
of them were carpenters. As Baptists they had no infant Baptisms and are
difficult to trace. There is little oral history either.
I would very much like to hear from anyone with any interest or knowledge of
these families.John was a son of a Breeze mother; his father was David Evans
(1787-1844) a doctor of Llanidloes who was Mayor at the time of the Chartist
affair.
