Amanda,
At the risk of asking the obvious questions, why don't you order
certificates, as follows: Birth (for whichever child you descend from);
Marriage (of John & Elizabeth); and Births (for John REES and for Elizabeth
once you have her maiden name from the child's birth certificate and both
fathers' names and occupations from the marriage certificate)? I suggest
ordering these directly from the Machynlleth Supt. Registrar.
There were several young REES couples living in Machynlleth in 1851 as well
as several yet unmarried people.
Have you also obtained the earlier (1871 & 1861) census returns to find John
& Elizabeth with their respective families?

Julie Preston

Subject: [WLS-MGY] REES
I am posting my Rees "brickwall" hoping someone will
recognise this:
John Rees born about 1852 Machynlleth, married Elizabeth Jones (born about
1853 Machynlleth).
They had 4 children Llewelyn (1881), David John (1885), Albert (1890),
Myfanwy (1894).
The family lived at Dolydderwen,Pennal from at least 1881 (possibly
earlier) to 1901
I do not have parents or siblings for either John or Elizabeth.
A possible marriage for them is 1876
John was a quarryman/labourer in slate quarry
It is possible his father was a Humphrey Rees ???
Thank you
Amanda
