Dear All,
I have only recently discovered a family link to Montgomeryshire and
slowly
trying to get the hang of rather a lot of places looking the same
,but I wonder if someone might be able to tell me where a place called
Weeg, Llanwnog might be. It appears on a marriage cert in 1867, so could
Weeg actually be a place or maybe the name of a dwelling. Any help, much
appreciated.
Greg,
I have an article on my website which refers to a farm called Weeg in
Montgomeryshire. The family name at the time was Williams. The farm is
stated as Llanbrynmair, and the family later moved to Llanwnog which is a
small village near Newtown.

You might find it interesting to do a Google search using the words Weeg
and Montgomeryshire together. This turns up a few references, including
another Williams.
Just to add interest, if you look up Llanwnog on
http://www.streetmap.co.uk
you will see, a short way to the south west, a bridge called Wig Br but the
i has a character ^ above it (circumflex??). Wonder if that alters the sound.
Cheers,
Malcolm
