Berwyn,
I've checked the 1881 Census and found the following entries -- I suspect,
since Ann was born in Cardiff (Glamorganshire), that's probably where they
met and married later, unless her father's occupation took them to
Montgomeryshire. Suggest you locate both families on the 1901 Census online
(for fee), as well, if you haven't already done so. The information on that
return should point the way to where you might apply for their marriage
certificate (i.e., Superintendent Registrar's Office -- see GENUKI pages
under Civil Registration for addresses, areas covered, and details on how to
send for certs). If you wish to follow-up on this family, you should also
post a query to the Glamorgan mailing list to see if anyone there is working
on it. Note David was born in Breconshire, so a posting to the Powys list
might turn up other RODERICK researchers. Ann's birth certificate should be
easily available from the Supt. Reg. office covering Cardiff -- since you
have her birth date and, with this census entry, the names of her parents
and place of her birth, this should be provided when sending for the
certificate.
There were numerous John HUMPHREYS of the right age in the 1881 Census but
only one born in Cemmes and he appears to be an illegitimate son of the
daughter in the family shown (Ann, 30, dressmaker). Obtaining his marriage
certificate and 1901 Census entry should confirm if the 1881 family is the
right one. Cemmes came under the Machynlleth Registration District so you
should order his birth certificate from there, once you've determined this
is the right person. (Presume you have something from the family indicating
John was from Cemmes? As I said, there were quite a few other possibilities
if there's a chance he was from elsewhere.)

Subject: [WLS-MGY] HUMPHREYS Cemmaes
I am searching for a John Humphreys, born July 14, 1875, resumed in
Cemmaes
Also Anne Roderick, born June 17, 1880
Possible record of their marriage, early 1900s.
Can anyone help by verifying they were from Cemmaes, and perhaps name
their
parents, and their dwellings?
Much appreciated.
