Angela,
In addition to John Ball's input ("Calvinistic Methodists" are now called
"Presbyterians" in Wales -- some of the "Independents", as well, I
believe),
could you clarify why you thought your family would've been Roman Catholic
in Wales (time-period, county)?
If you're only using the IGI, are you sure the entries you're finding are
the right people? Are the dates and places matching up to your prior
knowledge?
There's a whole lot of history you really should be aware of, especially if
you believe your family were RC, unless you're speaking of mid-to-late
1800's and, even then, depending on the area, there were relatively few
Catholic churches around.
Perhaps if you supplied us with more details, we could be of more help.
Regards,
Julie Preston

Subject: [WLS-MGY] Church descriptions
Dear List,
I have what you might think to be a crazy question! I am searching for
records on the LDS site and find "calvinist" and "Church of Wales"
records. I had
always assumed that my family was RC. Now, the immigrant was buried
in a
Presbyterian cemetery. Can anyone take a good guess as to which religion
he was
in Wales?
Thank you in advance!
Signed,
Angela
