Not normally backwards in coming forwards but I have been reading and digesting the
comments made both good, bad, and sometime daft on both the Mgy and the Powys lists.
My main ancestral interests lie in the marches areas of Montgomeryshire and Shropshire,
therefore I subscribe continually to those lists and hop onto others as the need arises. I
have no interests whatsoever in the Radnorshire and Breconshire counties which means that
90% of the mail to the Powys list is of no interest to me and so is a time waster. Having
said that, I am aware of the inactivity on the MGY list and the chance of missed
Montgomeryshire interest which has been posted to the Powys list and periodically I browse
it`s archives. I have subscribed to the Powys list many times in the past and have enjoyed
the interest but when the going has become too busy for me then I have hopped back onto
the Mgy list for respite!
Of course it is sensible to amalgamate. Shame to see the little shops struggling to
survive but there`s more choice in the Supermarkets! The future of the less active lists
is apparently inevitable but I really do support Julie and John in their efforts.
I think that one of the most important lessons to be learnt by would be and time served
listers is the clever use of headers to their enquiries and I for one will make a point of
using the chapman county code at the start of my header or subject line (that`s when I
subscribe to the Powys list of course!)

county of Montgomeryshire - not Powys!!!
