I think it would be a lovely name for a pub, much more sensible than the
ones we get these days!
In the simplest of terms a motte is a mound forming the site of a castle or
camp. A bailey is the outer wall of the castle.
I know that those on list the with far more knowledge than I have could give
you a much more detailed answer. I find the above adequate if you just want
a simple explanation.
