Thanks,

This is a shot in the dark. My name is Bob Haycock and I live in New Zealand.
My family history has it that one of my my ancestors,Thomas Haycock, who had
the "Butchers Arms" in Oswestry, as moving with wife Mary and 5 children to a
farm at Dolarddyn between 1809 and 1813. He gave his address as Castle
Caereinion when christening 4 more children. He later had the "Three Tun Inn"
in the High street of Welshpool. Two of his sons, James and John emigrated in
1842 to New Zealand, one of whom I am descended from.
I would be grateful if you could give me some idea of what kind of community
Dolarddyn was in that period. Was it just a locality named after Dolarddyn
Hall, or was it actually a village?
Would a farmer of Dolarddyn give his address as Castle Caereinion when
christening his children?

Bob Haycock
