Hi Marilyn,
I think you can reasonably safely presume ( how`s that for positive thinking!!) that
Margaret DAVIES`s birthplace was Llanbrynmair, Montgomeryshire. I located the 1871 image
and the last four letters are definitely -mair-. Also, you pointed out that in the 1851
census her birthplace was given as - Lambramere-. Now if I say that quickly enough to
myself it comes out pretty close to Llanbrynmair!! Interestingly, whoever transcribed for
Ancestry.com has printed her birthplace as Llanbrynmair.
Should be reasonably easy to trace, what`s her maiden name if you know it?
Cheers, Keith Roberts.

Hi Keith,
Thanks for your message.
The person I am looking for is called Margaret Davies (nee Williams). She was staying with
her married daughter in Brynmawr, Brecon in the 1871 Census (RG10/5589/16/25) & her
birth place is given as Montgomery Llabraidurair (? the handwriting is not very easy to
read).
I also have her in the 1851 Census visiting the same daughter in St Devereux, Hereford
where her birth place looks like Montgomery Lambramere.
As she was not in Montgomery, I agree with you that the enumerator had no idea what the
place was called & so tried to write it down phonetically.
Her age was given as 82 in 1871 & 60 in 1851. She was married in Hereford in 1812.
I'm not from Montgomery & this is the first person I've found in my family
tree from there, so I have no knowledge of the area. I'd be grateful for any
suggestions as to what this place is really called.
I have images of the documents which I could attach, but they're rather large & if
you don't have Broadband could take ages to download. Let me know what you think.
Regards,
Marilyn
