Mike,
(I'm posting this back to the MGY list so anyone interested can follow the thread.)
Are you a member of either Montgomeryshire Genealogical Society or Powys FHS? The details
from the examination would make an exceptional article for either journal and would then
also increase the possibility of reaching someone interested in ROGERS of that time and
parish.
It wouldn't hurt to post these exchanges to the Powys list, as well, so as to reach a
wider audience so I'll go ahead with that, if you don't mind.
She sounds as though she had to leave the last place without references so was making it
up as she went along....haven't you ever met someone who lies constantly, even when
there's no need or when they're clearly 'busted'? ("Pathological
liar", I think is the correct term)
I have one more source to check -- you may have seen references to Bill Barker's CD,
"Montgomeryshire Families 1675 - 1825" in which he's compiled references
from wills, BT's, Gwynne's Marriage Index and other sources in order to put
together family groups within parishes. I'll send you anything that may be pertinent
off-list.
Regards,
Julie Preston

Hi Julie,
thanks for this.
She was "repatriated" with Hanover Square.
I had seen Guilsfield on the map and wondered about it and with IGI showing
the surname evidence I suppose it about right.
I was just intrigued that although she had seen good times she went to
Stockport to seek "better employment" !
She must have soome stories to tell, yet as I was reading her Examination I
wondered, "as if" ....
no I must believe her, you can't make up names and addresses like that,
particularly when you are going to be sent back to the parish.
I hope someone can claim her, and who knows she may just become a "star" one
day.
thanks for your input.
