Hello Everyone,
I'm new here so I thought I should post my interests. I am researching my
mother's mother's family of Bryan. John Bryan, Methodist Minister, was born
in Llanfyllin in 1776. I believe his father's name was also John Bryan, and
his mother's maiden name was Rogers. Both parents died about 1780, and John
Jnr. went to live with his uncle John Rogers, who had a grocer's shop in
LLanfyllin, until about 1788 when John Rogers also died. Does anyone have
any connection or knowledge of the Bryan and Rogers families pre-1800? All
help welcome!
Also, I currently have a book on loan from the library -"Liverpool Welsh
and their religion" by R. Merfyn Jones and D. Ben Rees. It is a short
review of the history of the Welsh Calvinist Methodists in Liverpool
between about 1780-1980, and names many preachers and prominent Welsh
people who were active in Liverpool. If anyone wants me to check for a
particular name I am happy to do that while I have the book. Also I am
close to the Liverpool Record Office, if anyone wants a look-up there. (But
nothing too difficult, please; I'm just a novice at this!)
Blessings
Chrissie
