I've just joined this list and would greatly appreciate help with the following
ancestors, particularly if anyone is able to check relevant censuses for the area.
Daniel ASHTON (b about 1797 at Bont Dolgadfan, where he also died in 1867). He is listed
as a shoemaker on his daughter's marriage certificate. I believe his wife's name
was Hannah.
Their daughter, Elizabeth ASHTON (b 1823 at Bont/Llanbrynmair) married Richard HUMPHREYS
(b. 1821 at Bont Dolgadfan) in 1847 at the Pennant Chapel, Llanbrynmair. He was a tailor
or grocer and may have lived at Shop y Llan, Bont.
Elizabeth might have had a brother, another Daniel ASHTON (b. 1825), also a shoemaker,
who died aged about 20 in 1845.
Richard HUMPHREYS' father was Lewis HUMPHREYS (b. 1787 at Bont/Llanbrynmair, d
1841). His occupation is listed as a weaver on his son's marriage certificate.
My major gaps are the names of Daniel ASHTON's (weaver) wife and Lewis HUMPHREYS'
wife. Oh, if only they had listed the mother's names on the marriage certificates
too , it would make life so much easier for us!!
Thanks in advance
