Hi Listers.
The addition of the time to the date of birth on a birth certificate , although usually
signifying a multiple birth is not always so as I found out recently.
I sent for the birth certificate of my Great grandfather born in 1850 and registered in
Ludlow. It came back with the date and time for the birth. I thought immediately that he
must have had a twin, so rang the Registrar at Ludlow. He checked for me and confirmed
that there was no twin, but he said he had looked at other births and it seems for quite a
number of entries the Registrar of the day had added the times of the births.
So there are exceptions to all rules..
