Keith,
Suggest you contact David Petley-Jones of MGS first as they go to great lengths to try to
read all of the inscriptions or check the burial register if unable to read. Email him
at:
dllpg(a)hotmail.com He'll be able to advise you about the status of the MI booklet,
the vicar's thoughts on "gardening" and possibly give you the details you
need, in any case.
Best regards,
Julie Preston

Subject: [WLS-MGY] Llansantfraidd Parish Church (St. Fraidds)
I paid a visit to the churchyard last week in a further search for the tombstone/grave
of my GGGGrandparents Edward and Elisabeth Roberts and came across a gravestone slab in
sandstone and I think I may be onto a winner. The inscription was Elisabeth Roberts
beloved wife of Plas **** August *** 184*. The remainder of the slab is at present covered
over so I was unable to see if Edward was with her. Elisabeth died August 26th. 1846 and
Edward a year later and also my GGGrandparents Edward and Hannah are buried not far away
from the spot and they farmed Plas Gwyn, Llansantfraidd so I am hopeful that I am on the
right track.
Two questions: I have been told that there is now a Memorial Inscription list for the
church. Is this a fact?
Does anyone know the vicar well enough to say whether he would have objections to me
doing a bit of `gardening` around the stone to unearth the remainder of it? I am
considering contacting him to pop the question.
