WHITTINGTON -- Machynlleth
_____________________________
My gggrandfather was one Edward WHITTINGTON, gardener of Llanbadarn Fawr
(near Aberystwyth, Ceredigion). He married a Mary of Llanbadarn before 1851,
when the census lists him as a miner, and --- by the census info ---
remained there to 1891 when he died. He apparently ceased mining and was a
gardener in the 1881 and 1891 censuses. Mary died circa 1903. Their child
Ann married a John JONES (every Welsh researcher must have at least one in
his ancestry) and they became my grandmother's parents.
My reason for posting to the Powys and Montgomeryshire lists is to see if
anyone has any interest in the WHITTINGTONs of the Machnylleth area and any
connection with my Edward WHITTINGTON. There seems to have been a veritable
tribe of WHITTINGTONs in the Machnylleth/Cemmaes area back to the 1700s
(from a quick trawl around the LDS data) although exact family relationships
seem a little difficult to trace from that information.
