Hi Ernest,
I think it is probably Llansilin which is in Denbighshire although for the
purpose of the 1891 Census at least it was included in the Enumeration
District of Oswestry in Shropshire (Salop), England. I have just looked it
up on my road map and it is now in Powys. It is just a ouple of miles to
the west of Oswestry and north east of Llanfair Caereinion. It is in a
lovely area.
In the past when I have been to Oswestry I noticed that Welsh was spoken in
many of the shops in the town and the surrounding area. There is some very
beautiful countryside on the Montgomeryshire, Denbighshire border.
Regards,
Margaret Harvey

Hello out there,
Can any of you map mavens find a town, most likely in
Montgomeryshire which I have a spelling of Llansiling.
Doubt if it is spelt correctly. It comes from 1884
issue of "The Cambrian", and early Welsh-American
publication whoe were incline to spell as it sounded
(eg. Llanvair-careinion) and supposedly is the town of
my 2ggrandmother.
Thanks in advance.
