Michael,
The entry below appears to be your John RIM(M)ER and family in 1881 living
in Carnarvonshire. As you can see, they were, indeed, from Lancashire.

Subject: [WLS-MGY] RIMMERs of Chirbury
Dear Listers,
Please can anyone help with research into my wife's maternal RIMMER family
roots?
Her maternal grandfather was William Herbert RIMMER, a gamekeeper/forester
who was
born in Chirbury, Salop on 24 Apr 1887. On 11 Feb 1911 in Forden,
Montgomeryshire he married Sarah Elizabeth MORRIS who had been born in
Openshaw, Lancashire on 25 May 1887. William Herbert's father was John
RIMMER, also a gamekeeper at the time of William Herbert's birth in Stockton
Wood, Chirbury, and his mother was Jane CODDINGTON.
Unfortunately, I can find no more information on John and Jane RIMMER (nee
CODDINGTON) but have a suspicion that the RIMMER family originated from
Lancashire. My wife's mother, Kathleen May RIMMER was born in the
sub-district of Regent Road, Salford on 17 Oct 1915 and her father, William
Herbert may have been a docker in Manchester or Liverpool around that time
but who later moved to Welshpool. He died in Machynlleth on 20 May 1937.
Any information or advice on how I might get over this brick wall will be
greatly
appreciated.
