Alan,
I may have found the widow of William SIMON and two sons, living in
Llanidloes, MGY, in 1851. (1851 Census of Montgomeryshire, CD pub. by Powys
FHS.) The "Edwards House" housed 3 families -- all related to the woollen
industry as most in the neighborhood were.

MGY Llanidloes Lwr Grn, Edwards' Hs /f209/p16
SIMONS Richard s u 10 Errand boy

Might be a clue as to where to search for William SIMONS' death and to look
for the family in the 1841 Census. It's possible Llanidloes might also be
the place to look for John's baptism if you haven't found it in the Newtown
parish register or Bishop's Transcripts.

Julie Preston

Subject: [WLS-MGY] SIMON Newtown
My sole family connection in Montgomeryshire is a SIMON family.
John SIMON b. c1821 Newtown; married Mary Ann LEWIS 1846 Chirbury. He was
an Ag. Lab., and by 1846 was at Pentre, Churchstoke; 1851 Chilton, Atcham;
and in 1881 at Cound.
His father William SIMON was a weaver in 1846.
Have not found them in 1841 yet, nor John's baptism.
Anybod come across them?
Alan Kirk
