Douglas,
You said you "haven't been able to establish reliable ancestors for her" but
you neglected to tell us which records you've gone through already with no success.
Oddly, the family is listed twice (under "Price" and "Pryce") in the
1851 Census, with 67-year-old Margaret Lewis, a widow, shown just above Richard in both
cases, as "Landed Proprietor". Perhaps Richard ran the farm for her -- possibly
a relation to the family but not necessarily.
There must be other researchers with knowledge of this family.

From this entry, you can see that Richard was born in the parish of Llandyssil (1814/15)
and Susan was born in Kerry (1809/10), making Kerry a likely place to look for their
marriage and, possibly, the baptism of their eldest child or children. Microfilms of the
parish registers and Bishop's Transcripts are held at Powys County Archives,
Llandrindod Wells, and at the NLW, Aberystwyth.
Suggest you locate the family in the 1841 Census as there were probably earlier children,
although it won't state their parish of birth. A volunteer on the Mid-Wales Lookup
Exchange has posted the 1841 Census for Llanidloes Hundred for lookups. Suggest you
contact her and see if this family is listed in Llandinam by then. Later census lookups
are available for some areas, as well.

Ordering the birth certificate for any of the children born after July 1837 will provide
you with Susan's maiden name. You can order the cert directly from the Supt.
Registrar, Newtown. (See GENUKI pages under Civil Registration for details.)

Membership in the family history societies (Montgomeryshire Gen'y. Soc. and Powys
Family History Society) is strongly recommended (details on GENUKI pages above). Their
many publications are available for sale and they offer lookup services to members, help
wanted sections in their journals, as well as the opportunity to connect with members who
may be researching the same line but do not participate online.

My great grandmother, Elizabeth Pryce, was, I think, born on 20 March
1850 at Maesmawr, Llandinam, Montgomery. She was the daughter of Richard
Pryce who is described as being of Maesmawr Caersws in an old obituary.
There seems to have been a link with the Lewis family.
I have not been able to establish reliable ancestors for her but any
ideas on what information might be available would be much appreciated.
Douglas
