Further to Julie's description of the village, the village has a strong
community spirit and has published several "Living History" books with
stories of local and national events told by the people who remember them.
The name BEAMOND occurs in them, at least up to the end of WWII.

Jan,
Churchstoke is a border parish/village and also falls within the Hereford
Diocese,
unlike most other parishes in Montgomeryshire (Bangor or St. Asaph
Dioceses).
"Parish Registers of Wales" shows the following for Churchstoke:
CHURCHSTOKE / YR YSTOG H [Hereford Diocese]
Included townships of Brompton and Rhiston, Co. Salop
C 1558-1853 M 1558-1812 B 1558-1812 [held at] Shropshire Research &
Record
Centre, Shrewsbury
BT's [usually filmed by the LDS] 1660, 1663-1718, 1720-54,
1756-87,
1789-1833, 1836-53, 1855-8, 1861 [held at] Hereford Record Office
Having said all that, I did a quick search using the online LDS IGI at
www.familysearch.org for the christening of a William Beaumond, ca. 1775
(+/-5 years) and came up with nothing in Wales but but I did find some
possibilities in Shropshire so it's likely their origins are in Shropshire
but Hannah may have been from Churchstoke so they married in her home
parish.

Suggest you do a search of the Batch No. only and see if there was a
concentration
of this surname in Mainstone at that time.
Also this one:

If they were still alive in 1841, someone on this list or the Powys list
might be
able to do a lookup for them in Churchstoke for you. If not found,
suggest you look for them in/around Mainstone (in 1841 census or look for
their burials).

Subject: [WLS-MGY] Beamond family churchstoke
Hi
I am new to your list so I will list my intersts namely the BEAMOND
family.
William Beamond married to Hannah Evans c 1798 in Churchstoke had
Edward Beamond bapt 23 Nov 1802 in Mainstone.Edward married Harriet Jackson
in London and he was tansported to Tasmania Australia as a convict. Harriet
later came to Tasmania with her children.
Can any one tell me about Churchstoke Wales. I gather its a border
town
and I am not sure if this is making it hard for me to find details on the
Beamond family.
Any suggestions appreciated
regards
