Montgomeryshire Genealogial Society has recently published the following:
a)Memorial Inscriptions
MI/14 Castle Caereinion & Chapels (2nd ed.) - £4
MI/25 Llanidloes: Newchapel (3rd ed.) - £3.50
MI/67 Hyssington: St. Ethelreda & Chapels (2nd ed.) - £4.
b) Parish Registers
PR/37 Llangadfan: CMB 1673-1716 - £4.50
For a full list of previous publications and how to purchase, and other links, please see:

The MI series is of memorial inscriptions. These booklets are the result of the work of teams of transcribers. All partly legible or otherwise obscure inscriptions are subjected to further research involving Parish Registers, Bishop's Transcripts and GRO indexes wherever appropriate, and are therefore quite comprehensive.
The PR series is of Parish Registers, again the work of volunteer transcribers. [C=Christenings, M=Marriages, B=Burials]. Gaps and illegible sections in the registers are supplemented by entries from the Bishop's Transcripts. The publications are therefore again quite comprehensive.
You may also find it of benefit to join the society which publishes a journal three times a year.

Thought would take another look at the 1841 census images... the household
before the one in which David Rees is living are Rowlands, the household
after is Lewis. . In the place names the townships are listed jointly at
the top of the first page with ditto for each inhabited dwelling thereafter.
This is on the enumerator's schedule---- Description of ditto: All the
southern part of Celfachallt including part of Hengynwithfach in the parish
of Llanidloes in a Southern direction--Cheers, Lynn
Hi Julie,
Re: REES.
I think you may need some clarification. There is a Richard Williams age 37 a gatekeeper who `appears` to be living in the same dwelling which isn`t named, and I `think` that the Elizabeth Morgans age 8 mentioned by Lynn is living in the next dwelling (not named). You don`t get the luxury of Folio and page numbers with the fiche!! The Cilfachallt and Hengynwyddfach are not dwellings but townships within Llanidloes parish

Keith,
Many thanks! I take it this is the entire household? Yes, I am aware of the 1841 ages but this enumerator wasn't paying attention if he used David's actual age (52) instead of rounding it down!
Very best,

Hi Julie,
I had a look at my Fiche`s of the Llanidloes parishes ( they seem so out of date these days with all this online stuff!!) and the only REES family I found bearing any resemblance to yours is as follows:
Llanidloes townships of Cilfachallt and Hengynwyddfach.
Rees David age 52 - ag lab - Y (born in County)
Rees Mary age 55 Y
Rees Martha age 17
*********************
There is a JONES family living at Highgate * in 1841
* Note. not a street but a property
Also searched township of Llangurig.
You will know about ages and 1841 census. For what its worth its the only David and Mary Rees in Llanidloes at the time.
Cheers, Keith Roberts.

Dear Lists,
I'm sorry for the duplicate posting but, as I have no volunteer on the Mid-Wales Lookup Exchange with the 1841 Census for *any part* of Montgomeryshire (!), is there someone who might have the 1841 Llanidloes Hundreds who could look up the family shown below in the 1851 Census?
1851 Census, Parish of Llanidloes (CD pub. by Powys FHS):
REES David h m 65 Lab. MGY Llangurig Highgate St. /f139/p20
REES Mary w m 66 Lab.'s wife MGY Llangurig Highgate St. /f139/p20
REES Elizabeth d u 17 Dressmaker MGY Llanidloes Highgate St. /f139/p20

Keith,
Thank you for the clarification. I know that the way the 1841 Census is presented, it's sometimes difficult to discern individuals in one household, as opposed to individuals listed on the same page. It makes more sense for the REES family to be one household. Having said that, Elizabeth "Morgan" is about 10 years younger than Elizabeth REES who was listed with them in 1851 and who should be with the family in 1841 as 7/8 years old so it's possible she's in the same household. Thanks again!
Best,
Julie Preston

Lynn,
Thanks so much! Just to clarify, did all of these people live in the same household (same dwelling?) or are they just all on the same folio/page number? You seem to cite two dwellings?
Very best,
Julie Preston

Dear Powys & MGY Lists,
Jan Lloyd has most generously volunteered to do lookups in the 1851 & 1861 Census of Montgomeryshire (CD's pub. by Powys FHS and available for purchase via their website at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wlspfhs/ under "Publications").
Jan and other volunteers are listed on the Mid-Wales Lookup Exchange pages at:
http://home.clara.net/tirbach/johngareth.html
I encourage everyone to have a look -- you may have materials that will help fellow researchers that you would like to volunteer. If so, please contact me.
Thanks, Jan, for helping us out!
Best regards,
Julie Preston
