Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I would like to introduce myself and my interests to the list. I am a complete beginner to family research and therefore I have very limited information so far. It is for that reason that I have joined your list as I am hoping to solve what is a bit of a family mystery.
My grandmother was Ellen (Nellie) Madeline BYRNE b. 22/04/1903 in Liverpool. Although Nellie was not born in Montgomeryshire, my mother has a vague memory that her ggrandparents lived in Llanymynech (Four Crosses.) Their names - she thinks - were Martha EVANS who married a John (or maybe Jack) BYRNE. If these names are correct, then they will have had at least one son - Edward BYRNE who was Nellie's father.
My mother knows very very little of her mother's family history and so Nellie is proving to be my first BRICK WALL!
Is there anyone on the list who can help me? A census look up, or any information at all, be it concrete information on my Byrne connection or just some helpful advice or history of the Llanymynech area would be gratefully received.
Surnames I am interested in include EVANS, BYRNE, LONGSHAW, SHEARER, LEWIS.
Thanks in advance
Leanne

Susan,
Do you have the family entries from the 1871 & 1881 Census? If so, where
were they living in those years and what is the birthplace of the eldest
child? Have you already searched the marriages for Wem, Shropshire, and
Shoreditch?
Regards,
Julie Preston
