Dear Sender (Alwyn?)
I've just started reading the archives and have got to the end of 2002!
In the process I've learned a lot, especially Alwyn's summary of Patronymics
- this was most helpful in sorting out the various occupants of Cae Rhys
farm in Trawsfynydd from the 1841 Census onwards and the Bishop's
Transcripts before that.
Regards and keep up the good work.
Mel Jones

This is my first posting to this list.
I am researching the following families:
Griffith Davies born about 1815, died about 1886 Blaenau Ffestiniog. He was
a Blacksmith. He married Dorothy Edwards, she was born about 1827 at
Penmorfa, Caernarvonshire, they married in 1853 at Pistyll, St Beuno,Gwynedd
,Caernarfon.
They raised a family in Blaenau Ffestiniog, the following were their
children:
David Davies b. 1854
Margaret E. Davies b. 1856
Robert Griffith Davies b. 1863
Griffith Davies b. 1865
Thomas Ellis Davies b. 1868
Thomas Ellis Davies was a Flour and Coal merchant at Blaenau Ffestiniog.
He married a local girl name Jane Catherine Evans in 1890 at Ffestiniog.
Her father was William Owen Evans, an dher mother was Gwen.
Thomas and Jane had 1 son, he was Griffith W. Davies born 1892 Blaenau
Ffestiniog.
Thomas Ellis Davies died in Blaenau Ffestiniog in April 1897.
Jane Catherine (Evans) Davies continued to live as a widow at Bodychain,
Ffestiniog where she was a Draper and Grocery business. She died there on
Oct 26, 1954. She was born 1871 Blaenau Ffestiniog.
Robert Griffith Davies b. 1863 married Jane Catherine Lewis b. 1864 Blaenau
Ffestiniog, and they married in September 1889. They also had a son named
Griffith Davies born 1892 Blaenau Ffestiong, however their son died in 1915
in France, during the War.
I need to find Griffith Davies b. 1892 Blaenau Ffestiniog, who was living in
1911 census at Walton of the Hill, Liverpool, Lancashire. His occupation is
Bank Clerk. This man did not die in the war. This man lived and fathered
4 children from 1916 to 1925. His wife was May Kelsall. I have never found
a marriage record, and it is possible they never married.
I believe this man lived in Liverpool from at least 1911 to 1916. I
believe at some time he moved to Isle of Man where he worked in a Bank
there. His wife and children ended up in Rock Ferry, the Wirral, Cheshire.
I have all the information I need on May Kelsall and her children.
What I am lacking is finding anything about Griffith Davies from the 1911
census until death. I can not find him anywhere. His first child was born
1916 on Isle of Man, his next 2 children were born in Liverpool, and his
final child was born at Birkenhead, the Wirral in 1925.
I would appreciate help on Griffith Davies born 1892 who lived at least as
long as 1925. No death information found so far.
Best regards,
Lilly Martin
