Dear Doreen & John
This is absolutely marvellous. You have given me much more than I ever expected. All I need
now to establish the link with the batchelors of Dol Llychwin - HEN LANCIAU DOL LLYCHWIN-
is to trace the marriage of Catherine and John Lloyd. How can I repay you for this
information?
All I had to go on to start with was a statement in the will of David Roberts of Gwynfryn,
Trawsfynydd (1856) citing a beneficiary as " Catherine my niece, daughter of my said
late sister and now wife of Mr John Lloyd".I searched for Catherine and John Lloyd
about sixty years of age in the 1881 census and found two possible entries. But once I saw
the name Dol Llychwin I remembered that my grandfather used to talk about his relatives,
the "hen lanciau Dol Llychwin" and that triggered my memory that this was the
right link.
David Roberts was my gg-greatgrandmother's brother. There were two brothers,David and
Robert and four sisters Elinor, Catherine, Elizabeth and Catherine Lloyd's mother in
the Rhiwgoch family.
Thank you again for your kind and generous help.
Regards
Gruff Rowlands.
