There is a cemetery just outside the town on the road going inland towards
Bryncrug. That's where people whose funerals are held in St Cadfan's Church
are buried.
The Meirionydd edition of the Cambrian News carries obituaries. I just
tried looking it up online and found nothing useful. It's been published
for over a hundred years so it may also have had an obituary for your great
grandfather. There were other papers being published then too but I don't
know the names - the National Library (see below)
has a list of them.
I haven't got a recent map of Tywyn in the house but the two I've looked at
are 1952 and 1979. The earlier one shows Esguan Hall and across the railway
line Esguan. The later one calls them Escuan Hall and Escuan Isaf. They
are right on the border of the National Park - the hall just outside it
because it's closer to the old Tywyn quarrying area, and Escuan Isaf just in
it.
The National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth has old Cambrian News copies on
file. The local history section of Gwynedd Council in Dolgellau are very
helpful and may be able to help you with records of the building - as may
the National Library.

Subject: [MER] TYWYN Cemetery
Good Evening everyone,
I would be grateful if anyone could please tell me where the cemetery is
in
Tywyn. I am having trouble finding it on a map. Also can any kind
soul
tell
me if there is an address to which I can write for details of
interments
in the
cemetery please? I think that the Cemetery may be on the coast road?
I
am
looking for the burial of my Great grandfather William Jones who
died at
Esgair Goch, Pennal on 26 February 1914, but who I believe was buried with
two of
his 3 wives in Towyn. Any help would be gratefully received.
Many thanks
Tricia Heseltine
