Thanks Mike,
Thank you for your response. I, too, have helped others with their ancestors and it is a
great feeling to be sometimes successful. I live in Northern California, USA.
The 1881 entry for John Owen, born Rhiw 1864 is most likely the son of John and Mary Owen.
I do not believe census information is always correct. I have conflicting information
about the death of this John Owen, Jr. I have an entry for him that says that he died 2
April 1926 and another entry that states that he was killed in the war (I am assuming
WW-I). Obviously, 1926 was not during either WW-I or WW-II. I have Owen Owen as being
born 6 January 1885 and dying on 31 October 1944. I have John Owen Sr. as being born 1843
and dying 27 June 1924 at home in Rhiw. His wife Mary (Jones) born 1844 dying on 12 April
1920 in Rhiw. The father of John Owen Sr. was Robert Owen and his mother was Ellen Jones.
John Owen Sr. married Mary Jones on 13 November 1868 in Rhiw. Mary Jones' father was
John Jones; mother not known.
Ann Gabrielle Pugh (wife of William Owen) was born in Towyn. Her father and mother were
David Pugh (1859-1894) and Ann Williams (1860-1832). Ann Williams was said to be from
Cardiganshire but little is known about her. Ann Williams had a second marriage to David
Jones about nine months following David Pugh's death. She would have been about 35
years of age. They had two children; Hugh and Ifan. Ann Gabrielle Pugh also had two
brothers who went to Canada with her; Tom and David. It is said that they both died
fighting for Canada during WW-I.
I noticed that your last name is Davies? I have a relation, Catherine Davies who married
David Hywel Parry and they have 3 boys - living just north of Welshpool. Was wondering if
this is a common relation?
Thanks again so much for responding to the query.
Regards, Dan Smith
