Hello Doreen and John ,
Many thanks for the information about Evan Jones and family.
The 1851 entry for Penbraich, Llandderfel is definately my gt-grandfather and family.
I am 95% sure that it is the same family in TynLlechwedd, Llandderfel in 1841 but am a
little puzzled at his occupation as a school master since it stated on their marriage
certificate that he was a servant. Evan Jones (from Ty Newydd, Llanycil ) and Elizabeth
Williams (from Tyddyn du , Llanycil) were married in 1840 in Llanycil, so it is possible
that they were at either of these locations in 1841.I note that the birth parish of their
daughter Elizabeth in the 1851 census is Bala which presumably could be Llanycil .
Regards,
Elfed
Hi Elfed
John double checked the 1841 and Evan Jones is definitely listed as a
School Master. It was quite common for them to use a local resident
when they were temporarily short of a School Master so maybe this was
just a temporary situation for Evan. There was something written
underneath the entry but it was not readable.
