Hi David & Jeff
Your Edward was indeed at Penrhyndeudraeth for the 1891 Census. Below is a
copy of your entry from my extract of the Penrhyndeudraeth census for 1891.
I am currently up to page 24 of 35 of the census and hope to have it

Below my signature block is the record of my grandmother's father, Edward
WILLIAMS at Penrhyndeudraeth (Penlan Isa) in the 1881 census (from the LDS
on-line edition). I assume he was born circa 1854 give or take a year or
two
but the area I have for that is Gwyddelwern. The father, Evan, was a
butter
merchant at Cistfaen in 1861 (by that census).
It is interesting who WAS at Cistfaen/Gistfaen in 1891. I understand that,
in 1881, although poor old Evan WILLIAMS was widowed and his kids had all
left for elsewhere his wife's family were EVANS and one of his daughters,
Margaret (b. circa 1860; who never married), was keeping house at Ty'n cae
mawr for her maternal uncle, Evan EVANS (b. 1831). I wonder if there could
be a connection to the EVANS at Cistfaen in 1891? (although Llanuwchllyn
is
not a positive indicator on any known info.)
I believe Evan WILLIAMS' wife was Anne EVANS (age '15' in the 1841
census).
These EVANS had apparently come from Cadwst, which is probably closer
to
you
at Llandrillo than Cistfaen is! Their father was another Evan EVANS
and
mother another Anne.
