It was a favourite holiday or day trip from Birmingham
and I visited the narrrow gauge railways back in the fifties
I am 11 /16 Welsh, the 8/16 from Monmouthshire, and the rest from Caernavon and Swansea
via Bristol
I have a big interest in nineteenth century industrial archeaology, and I studied
engineering at the end of the age of steam reciprocating engines.
I have a lot of contacts in USA interested in finding their roots
so I am experienced with the Ellis Island data for example.
By my side I have the second edition of Wyndham's tour of Wales
of 1744 and 1777 which I inherited from my grandfather , the Usk solicitor,
Wyndham's party travelled the county on horse back with local guides and describe the
roads as goat tracks , Welsh was the language then but the children started to learn
english age seven in the schools and impressed the tourists with their progress.
I plan to publish the tex as an ebook eventually
