We are researching Hugh Owen Lloyd who was (born abt 1813 Dolgellau) one of the sons of
Hugh and Catherine (nee?) Lloyd.Occ: Currier. Note a Hugh Lloyd Currier of Queen square
shows up in the Pigots National Commercial 1835 Directory.
According to the 1839 marriage certificate of Hugh Owen Lloyd to Charlotte A Hobbs
Hugh's trade was Draper. and through the years this changed from draper to victualler,
law Clerk and eventually in 1878 accountant (according to daughters marriage
certificate).
The 1881 census shows a Hugh Lloyd Occ: accountant married age 68 born Dolgellau and
Margaret Lloyd wife age 59 born Mallwyd (Nantyrhedydd) Montgomery Wales dwelling 1 School
Cottage, Llangelynin, Merioneth.
We suspect that this is Hugh Owen Lloyd as the birth date ,place of birth and Occ; check
out and that Margaret was his second wife. His first wife Charlotte died in 1848.
We have no details of the second marriage or of any children and wonder if Hugh Owen and
Margaret Lloyd show up in the 1891 census and hopefully with any children (adults) living
with them.
Also can anybody advise if the Memorial inscriptions for Dolgellau have been documented
as the information we have on the father Hugh Lloyd-currier and family is very limited.
Regards.
Richard Hobbs.
