I've come across this issue of parts of Llandderfel being under Llanfor
before and think it was (partly at least) caused by an island of land
belonging to the parish of Llandderfel being slap bang in the middle of the
parish of Llanfor - you can see it on parish maps. It's a real nuisance when
you're searching for a family that moved around a lot and I sometimes get
the feeling that the enumerators weren't totally sure exactly what this
island consisted of and so weren't consistent as to which parish they put
each farm or house.

Hello Doreen and John,
I did not know about the changing of the Llandderfel and Llanfor
boundaries
for different census years.
Maybe this explains why Pen Braich is not on the 1841 census of
Llandderfel
but appears in 1851 and subsequent years. Penbraich did exist before
1841
since there are several entries for Penybraich in the Llandderfel PR
dating
back to 1817.
Regards,
Elfed.
