Hi, I'm Kay from Minnesota, Land of 10,000 Lakes (and millions of
mosquitoes)!!
20 Apr 1798: Marriage: Owen DAVID of Llanddwywe & Mary JONES of
Llanaber. Owen DAVID was a weaver and first elder at the chapel in
Bontddu. He died Feb 20, 1838. The family was at Bwlch yr Ysgol.
Would like to know where Owen DAVID and Mary JONES are buried. There is
no cemetery in Bontddu so would like to find out where people from this
area would be buried.
Children that I am aware of:
1) 03 Feb 1799: David OWEN. He served as a deacon for fifty years at
Bontddu, Y Penrhyn, and Y Dyffryn. He died 03 May 1883 and is buried at
the Horeb Chapel, Dyffryn Ardudwy, Llanendwyn. I have quite a bit of
information on this family. David OWEN's granddaughter was Mary Powell
Jones of the Religious Revival of 1904-1905.
2) 18 Oct 1801: John OWEN, weaver. A cousin found a marriage of a John
OWEN, bachelor of Bwlch yr Ysgol, Llanaber and Margaret WILLIAMS,
spinster of Blaen Cwmmynach on 17 Feb 1826.
I have not done any research on John OWEN and would like to correspond
with anyone who might be connected with this family.
3) 18 Dec 1803, Griffith OWEN (My gggrandfather). He married Elizabeth
EDWARD in 1828 and immigrated to the USA in 1842. They lived in Racine
and Montello, Wisconsin and finally Lime Springs, Iowa.
4) 05 Oct 1806: Robert OWEN. He also was a weaver. On the 1851 census,
Robert is at Bwlch yr Ysgol with Lidia, 38, his wife who was born in
Llanfihangel y Pennant; and Jennet JONES, 84, his mother-in-law, born
Talyllyn.
This is another family I would like to find out more about.
5) 30 Dec 1810: Elizabeth OWEN. I have no further information on
Elizabeth.
Thanks to all for this great list.
