Leslie,
Being I live in Minnesota, USA, I have to look at Family History Library
microfilm (Bishop's Transcripts) for christenings, marriages and burials in
the Llanaber parish. Otherwise, I send a request to the Dolgellau archives
along with payment for them to search in the parish registers they have
available. (This is mostly for pre-1837 information). If you go the Gwynedd
Family History Society site and look under publications you can find a list
of memorial inscriptions for Merionethshire that are available for purchase
(there are 3 for Llanaber). The cemeteries at Llanddwywe and Llanenddwyn
have not been recorded as yet as far as I know. (Anybody out there willing
to help Gwyndaf Williams record these cemeteries?!)
If I come across any of the surnames you mentioned when looking at
microfilm, I will let you know.
Kay Gavin

Hello Kay
I Have three generations of my family buried in St Marys Churchyard
Llanaber. I would be very interested in any information you could find for
me regarding William Henry Carter/Clara Carter . Harry Whitehead/Gwen
Whitehead any other Whiteheads and Carters as this was also their Parish
Church and My Parents William Edward Mitchelmore /Dorothy Irene Sampson nee
Whitehead 1956 and Grandparents Harry Whitehead/Edith Irene Griffiths 1929
were married there .
Any details you or any other reader can offer I would be very grateful as
I have just started my research and joined this fantastic site and haven't
yet been able to get to Dolgellau records office as I now live in Leicester
although I was born in Barmouth My Fathers side have lived in Dyffryn for 5
generations, I know alot about them but not so much about the Carter
/Whitehead Mothers side Llanaber/ Barmouth
Many Thanks to any one who answers Leslie W Mitchelmore.

Recently while researching a microfilm for Llanaber parish I came across
this:
Burials: No. 824. Bottle of Beer, Found dead on the shore, March 14, 1844,
Edward Jones, Curate.
There evidently was a wreck of a ship "Caroline" at this time.
Is this really a joke or does this relate to possibly an unknown person
being found on the beach? Any opinions??
