Recently while researching a microfilm for Llanaber parish I came across
this:
Burials: No. 824. Bottle of Beer, Found dead on the shore, March 14, 1844,
Edward Jones, Curate.
There evidently was a wreck of a ship "Caroline" at this time.
Is this really a joke or does this relate to possibly an unknown person
being found on the beach? Any opinions??

There is a settlement in Devon named Beer.
I suppose it is just possible that a Mr Bottle hailed from that location.
But the burial entry looks rather more light-hearted than that!

Hello Kay
I Have three generations of my family buried in St Marys Churchyard Llanaber. I would be
very interested in any information you could find for me regarding William Henry
Carter/Clara Carter . Harry Whitehead/Gwen Whitehead any other Whiteheads and Carters as
this was also their Parish Church and My Parents William Edward Mitchelmore /Dorothy Irene
Sampson nee Whitehead 1956 and Grandparents Harry Whitehead/Edith Irene Griffiths 1929
were married there .
Any details you or any other reader can offer I would be very grateful as I have just
started my research and joined this fantastic site and haven't yet been able to get to
Dolgellau records office as I now live in Leicester although I was born in Barmouth My
Fathers side have lived in Dyffryn for 5 generations, I know alot about them but not so
much about the Carter /Whitehead Mothers side Llanaber/ Barmouth
Many Thanks to any one who answers Leslie W Mitchelmore.
