Many thanks for your response Tony, and although I will look at the
Rhosymedre Rresource Centre of Clwyd FHS at the Parish Registers for
Llangar, you have made me aware of the possibilities of Patronomics to watch
out for.

Hi William,
Several years ago, I made notes from the Llangar BTs from LDS film.
These must surely be inferior to the Clwyd FHS transcripts at your doorstep!
I have failed to identify your Jane Roberts bap.1765, dau. of Griffith
Roberts and Elizabeth Thomas of Llangwm.
I have found a couple of baps. between 1660-70, of a Jane who might have
been known as Jane Roberts by patronymics, which was still in use in that
area:
1763 Jan16 Baptism Bodteulog Jane, daug.r of Rob.t Williams and
Catherine his wife
1768 Feb14 Baptism Llawrybettws Jane, daug.r of Rob.t Griffith and Jane
his wife
- and one Jane Roberts by surname or else Jane Williams by patronymics:
1768 May12 Baptism Proseuthydd Jane, daug.r of W.m Rob.ts and Jane his
wife
I am quite interested in this last one because my ancestor was also in
Proseuthydd that year:
1768 Jan24 Baptism Proseuthydd Margaret, daug.r of Thomas Francis and
Mary his wife
and his son Thomas born 1769, later married a Jane Roberts, aged 22 at her
marriage in 1795.
But perhaps a better match in Llangar might be:
1773 Nov16 Baptism Ddwyrûd Jane, daug.r of David Roberts and Eliz.th his
wife
- or did this one become Jane Davies? How can we ever know?
If you are still looking for Griffith Roberts, there was one in Llangar
who had his children back in the 1730s. Later, he was a church warden.
1777 Apr 29 Burial Penyfoel Griffith Roberts
cheers, Tony in White Rock, BC

Following further revelations at the Rhosymedre Resource Centre of Clwyd
FHS by a cousin of mine this afternoon,it appears that I misread the
Birthplace of my Jane Roberts who married Thomas Gabriel,in fact at Corwen
in 1795.it appears that she was born in Llangar Merionethshire in c
1765.Llangar of course being quite near to Corwen. The origins of the
Thomas Gabriel born in c 1857,according to his death, also in Cefn Mawr in
1846,when he was given as 89 years old,are quite unclear,and I would
welcome any help greatly.

Although I am a new subscriber, some of you may know me from the Clwyd
List.Following a recent breakthrough in my research,I have traced back to
a Griffith Roberts and Elizabeth Thomas, who married in Llangwm on February
16th 1763.This couple I believe are my Greatx5-Grandparents.Their known
children were Thomas born c 1764,Jane born 1765,and Elizabeth born
1767.Jane went on to marry a Thomas Gabriel at Gwyddelwern in 1795,,and
died at Cefn Mawr Denbighshire in 1859.Although I am not certain yet
Thomas may also have gone on to marry at Gwyddelwern,to an Elizabeth Lloyd
in c 1786.I would greatly welcome help from anyone who may recognise any
of the people above.
