Hi Phil
I have a Morris Jones, Cae Gwyn, Trawsfynydd born 1778 to John Morris and Sarah Jones, so
I recognise the entry you mention. Like me you possibly have a problem with the use of
patronymics. Have you:
Looked at the parish registers - I think they're held at the archives in Dolgellau,
which are closed (I believe) until September?
Searched the BTs available to you for possible marriages or for other children who might
be associated with Ty Cerrig (assumes his parents lived there?
Looked for a will for his father at the National Library of Wales? Again this might
require an association with Ty Cerrig, at least for an easy search.

Hi Listers,
My gg grandfather MORRIS JONES, a farmer of Ty Cerrig Trawsfynydd, was buried
on 20th December 1836 at the age of 55. The Bishop's Transcript for
Trawsfynydd has a MAURICE JONES christened on 18th November, 1781 but with no mention
of his parents. Can anyone out there tell me who his father or mother were? He
married Catherine Williams and two of his known three children - William and
Dorothy - were named after her parents. The third one - Anne - could have been
named after his mother. Any help would be gratefully received.
Regards, Phil.
