county! Does Dyfi Bridge in the 1901 census refer to the area north of the
railway bridge?

Dyfi Bridge is the Bridge that links Montgomeryshire and Merioneth, it is
the small Bridge that crosses the river just before you get into
Machynlleth. The houses in the Census are / were clustered around the chapel
that you see as you cross the bridge going north.
To many people Dyfi Bridge is the "border" between north and south Wales -
my grandmother (from Pontypridd) use to have a saying "you can't trust
anybody from the other side of Dovey Bridge" - despite the fact that she
married one and lived on the best side of Dyfi Bridge for most of her adult
life!
