I am looking to find a John JONES who was a blacksmith of Talyllyn. I am
sorry that I do not have any further details about him. I know that it is a
difficult ask, bearing in mind the name, but I wondered if the census was indexed
if it would be possible to look for the occupation together with the name?
His daughter Elizabeth was born ca 1840 according to the marriage certificate or
1843 according to the 1871 census so I would think it safe to assume that he
would have been born prior to 1823. I know nothing further about the family,
having only now found Elizabeth as the second wife of my great grandfather
after searching for some years. On the 1871 census she gives her place of birth
as Talyllyn. I would be grateful for any help with this one.
1841 Census
HO107-1429-9 f5 p3 Talyllyn, township of Corris
carmel
john jones 25 smith n
ann jones 25 n+y
ellis jones 7m y
elizabeth lloyd 60 y
morris lloyd 20 ag lab y
n+y means either n overwritten by y or viceversa. I have sent an
image by mail so that you can decide. There were two other families
with a John Jones of approximately the right age but neither were
blacksmiths.
