Is anyone looking for descendants of Edward and Elinor Edwards (born c. 1788 & 1810
respectively)?
Edward was a butcher in Bala and had two sons, Edward and Rice as well as two daughters.
The younger, Rice, was my great great grandfather.
My great great grandmother Margaret (nee Jones) was his first wife. Margaret's father
was John Jones, died in 1737 and the family lived at Gwern y Ewig farm at Llanfawr/Llanfor
nr. Bala until approx 1866.
My great grandfather Edward was the only child of the first marriage of Rice Edwards but
after Margaret (Jones) died Rice remarried and had a second family. Sadly, he died in 1877
aged fifty, from complications following a cut on the arm. Only a few years later,
Rice's widow (also called Margaret) and her three children were in the Bala Workhouse
(source: 1881 census).
