The details of land movements given in the Guthrie Jones documents recently
transcribed as Z/DP/9/ to the Gwynedd Council Archives : Rhagorol Chi -Line
Catalogue contains reference in Items 26,27 and 30 to a parsel of messuages
in the parishes of Llanddwywe and Trawsfynydd in Merioneth which belonged to
the late David Davies Brynraber. I would be very grateful if anybody could
tell me where is Brynraber and also if they have any information about David
Davies of Brynraber and his brother John of the same place.David Davies died
before1803 and John Davies was his only survivor and heir.
The last reference 530 dated 1805 involving ASSIGNMENT of properties
records the involvement of
1 . Edward Edwards, Cerrigllwydion ,co,Denbigh
2 . John Davies Brynraber
3 . Gabriel Davies Bala
4 . John Jones Rhydyfen
The documents refer to a parsel of messuages in Llanddwywe and Trawsfynydd
i.e. Ffriddbryncoch, Bedd y Coediwr, Caeadda, Tyn-twll, Caerhys and
Moelfryn which is recorded in the will of Robert Roberts Rhiwgoch
Trawsfynydd and dated Sept 1810. I would be interested to know how they got
into Robert Roberts possession. Were they purchased or were they inherited?
The fact that there appears to be such a small gap between the two records
and the fact that Robert Roberts' wife was a Davies suggest an
inheritance. But I have no records of her family apart from the following in
the M.I. for the Rhiwgoch family in St Madryns Church Trawsfynydd:
DAVID DAVIES died 6 Dec 1784 aged 24 years
ANN DAVIES died 20 March 1804 aged 83 years
JANE wife of Robert Roberts (DAVIES ?) died 14
July 1831 aged 79 years
ROBERT ROBERTS died 21 Jan 1812 aged 66 years
The answer to that question -inheritance or purchase ? could decide if
there are links between the Roberts of Rhiwgoch family to the Rhydyfen or
Gwynfynydd families through the marriage of Robert Roberts and Jane Davies.I
would be grateful for any relevant information
