Hi Doreen and John,
This is nothing to do with family history as such, but I was in a group of
people yesterday. We met by design. Two of the group emigrated to Canada
from the Rhondda some 30 years ago. It turns out that they are not so far from
Hamilton, going by Canadian distances.
They live near a Chippowa Reservation and know of the Ivor Wynne Stadium.
They are Basil and Ann Bishop who are on the Glamorgan list. I knew him
from my childhood, but Ann and I had never met in our youth as far as I can
recall.
It was good fun catching up though, and we did have some discussions on
family history topics. So, not all is lost. <grin>.
Best regards,
Maureen Jenkins

Hi Maureen
Thanks for you interest, especially since it is "Canada Day" today.
There 2 Chippewa Reservations here in Ontario that I know of. One in Northern Ontario and
the other in Western Ontario. (The Chippewa are also known as the Ojibwa if I remember
correctly.)
So not exactly sure where it is your friends are located.
The reservation closest to Hamilton, where we live, is not a Chippewa one. It is one
belonging to the Six Nations Confederacy, made up of the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga,
Seneca and the Tuscarora tribes.
We have spent a lot of time in Ivor Wynne Stadium as it is where our local football
(Canadian Football) team play.
