Hello Susan,
Best place to start are the baptism records for Mallwyd which are
available in Microfilm form at the Meirionnydd Archives in Dolgellau.
The website for contact is:
www.gwynedd.gov.uk/gwy_doc.asp?cat=3265&doc=9448
A research service used to be available at £12 per 30 minutes of work.
Worth finding out if the service is still being offered if you are
unable to travel to Dolgellau.
The census for 1871 indicates that Robert and Elizabeth Jones of Dugoed
Isaf, Mallwyd were born in 1807, so that gives you a starting point in
the parish records which go back to the 1560's. If they were connected
with Ebenezer chapel you could also ask the Archives people if baptism
records are available for the chapel.
Good luck,
Ken Richards

Yet another Jones trail, I'm afraid!
My family lived at Dugoed Isaf farm in Mallwyd until the death of Robert Jones in 1876. My
great- grandmother Jane (his daughter) had already moved to England but her brothers
David, Robert,Hugh and Evan seem to have completely disappeared. I was wondering if any of
their descendants were trying to link up.
As I'm not a Welsh speaker I don't know how to go about tracing Robert and his
wife Elizabeth's ancestors. I do know they belonged to the Ebenezer chapel in Dinas
Mawddwy.
Many thanks for any advice
Susan Chapman (nee Vaughan Jones)
