Hi Bill,
I had figured out the surname part with Williams but I didn't think of the
name Jane as being her mother's and daughters. The only thing is that I
haven't been able to find a christening for the daughter Jane Owens. I did
find a marriage for a Robert Evans and Jane Richard both of Ffestiniog
parish married by licence 7 April 1832. They had a son Richard on 7 Sept
1834, another son Richard on 3 Dec 1936 and a son Edward on 9 Nov 1938. This
is the only family group that was close except in this case Jane's last name
should have been Owens since her father was Owen Evans. I think I need to
try to find them in the later census records and then try to find a marriage
record for Catherine, Robert and Jane's daughter.
It sure is a wierd situation!
Thanks for your input,
Gwen
Hi Gwen
I failed to find the baptism of Margaret on the 2nd of April 1769 in
the record book, but there were three Margaret's baptised within a month of
that date.
Is your Margaret the daughter of William Bellis and Jane of Tyn y Cwm? If it
is, she used her fathers first name as her surname, and Jane the name of her
mother was given to her child. It makes good sense.
This Margaret was baptised on the 25th of March 1769.
Best regards
Bill Jones
