You're right it's Llanddwywe. I saw my error right after I hit send. They are
neighbouring places from what I can see.

Llanddwywe rather than Llanwywe?
The Hayes Index tells you the number of the license, date of marriage,
general area where the bride and groom are from, most of the time whether
they are single or widowed, and whether the marriage was by license or
banns. I haven't looked at the microfiche for awhile but I think that is
the same information that is provided. I think I'm right in saying that
before 1837 you have to look at the Church of Wales for a marriage, even if
they were non-conformists. I found some marriages by looking at microfilm
from the area through the family history library in Salt Lake City, however,
parents names were not mentioned, but I think they usually have witnesses
names.
Please someone correct me if I'm wrong about this marriage information.

Subject: Re: [MER] Marriages for Merionethshire
My gr.gr.grandparents, Edward Ellis of Llanwywe & Gwen Griffith were married
on 8 Apr 1811. Is there anything in either of the records you mention which
would help in finding their parents names, the church they married in or
anything like that which might be helpful?

The Hayes Marriage Index and the Merioneth Marriage Index are both separate
indices.
I'm not sure how much of Merioneth Hayes covers. I believe that the Hayes
Index has records that are both earlier and latter that those in the
Merionth index.
However it isn't likely that Hayes has any marriages between 1754 and 1837
that aren't in the Merioneth index (unless one of the Merioneth transcribers
inadvertently left one out by mistake).
All the best

Subject: [MER] Marriages for Merionethshire
I think this question got buried in my earlier question regarding the 1901
census.
Can someone answer this question please?
I have the microfiche for marriages for Meirionnydd. Is this the same
marriage
index as in the Dafydd Hayes list?
Thanks again for your help.
