Carroll Thatcher,
>Hi. I am looking for information on my gggrandfather Evan T.
Jones. I
have a family bible of his which states he was b. in Bala, Wales on
05-10-1840. He married a KY girl (Mary Jane Black) in Glasten, MO in 1869.
He/they lived in Platte, MO, and then moved to Livingston, Macon, MO where
they had most of their children.
Family Bibles sometimes have a section for writing the Birth details. When
you say "b." do you mean born? Or is this the baptismal date?
I am not sure what the date means. If you can rephrase that in the format
DD-MMM-YYYY it should be clearer. I am not too sure what the abbreviation
"MO" means either.
Often, Welsh Americans took a middle initial on arrival in America. Is this
the case with Evan T. Jones? Any clues what "T" stands for?
Another important factor is the religion of him and his family in America.
This will help in the searching of Welsh records.
How did he migrate to America? As a child or as an adult?
Have you tried looking for him in the Welsh 1841 Census?
Regards,
Peter Evans
