That sounds right to me, the guy said one of his forebears was called
Hugh Pugh and they did come from the Duffryn area. He said it was ironic
that he has a caravan near to the Duffryn area and didn't know that his
mother's family came from that area. He discovered lots of his forebears
in the local cemetery! Some of his mother's family had immigrated to
Wisconsin and he had this image of people looking like him, living in
the mid west. Advised him that members of the Angelsey side of the my
family(dad's) had also emigrated to Wisconsin and then onto Nebraska.

Hi Maureen
I watch these messages all the time hoping to see someone from the
Llanenddwyn area.
The marriage of one of my ancestors (my mother's maternal
grandparents), Thomas Thomas Jones & Elizabeth Williams, was witnessed
by a Hugh Pugh and Anne Thomas. They were apparently living at Henfelin,
Dolgellau. Is that anywhere near.
My Ellis ancestors, my mother's father's family, was from Llanwywe &
Llanenddwyn. Some of his siblings were still there in the 1930s, at
Gillelwyd Fawr. Griffith Ellis & Gwladys Jones were married there and
had three children.
My mother was born in Porth though. She came to Canada in the 1920s
with her parents and most of her siblings. Her brother, Thomas Hugh, was
deaf and had to remain behind. One of his sons, Maldwin Ellis, still
lives in Pontypridd.
Still, is there a chance your family in Llanenddwyn know anything of
my Ellises. My grandfather was one of 20 Ellis children (two Ellis
fathers & two wives for my gr. grandfather). I'm hoping that someone
know of marriages that took place for some of the others.

Hello Bob,
Saw your message about your encounter. If you are keeping in touch with
him, and you learn more, then I can tell you that I have Pughs in
Llanenddwyn
Parish, Duffryn Ardudwy. They lived at Bron y Foel, and were farmers,
but may
well have been drovers as well.
Ann Pugh was an only daughter amongst brothers, and she married John
Wynne.
The other surname connected to the Pughs here is Pritchard. The most
common
christian name was Hugh.

Maureen
